At the turn of the century, East Liberty was a bustling regional business district. Despite its success, the community’s leaders were aware that the neighborhood could face significant challenges in the future. They realized that the community needed to come together and establish a shared vision for its future in order to compete for private investment and public redevelopment dollars.
The first step was to focus on the area around the historic East Liberty Presbyterian Church at Penn and Highland avenues. This area was a key site for the revitalization because of its close proximity to the neighborhood’s commercial corridors and the new light rail station. The community began a process of thinking about what it wanted to see in this space and came up with the idea of transforming the site into a town square, which would be consistent with the community’s initial vision for its revitalization plan in 1999.
This striking development is comprised of 302 extraordinary modern suites that overlook King West, parklands, and beautiful Lake Ontario.
