The first complex of its kind in Richmond Hill, Baif Don Head configures a new mixed-use community that is designed to enhance the Town’s sense of place by continuing transit-facilitated growth along the Yonge Street corridor. It features a mix of public, semi-public and private spaces, all connected with landscaped pedestrian corridors. The community includes high and low-rise buildings ranging from 9 to 31 storeys, townhomes, retail space and a public square at the south west corner of Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive.
The Town’s position is that Baif’s proposal for the Yonge Street Block tower heights are inconsistent with the policies of the Angular Plane Policy, since it is intended that towers decrease in height as they approach the historic downtown. In addition, the Town took issue with the Baif proposals for the Major Mackenzie Block as they do not follow this policy direction and instead feature a continuous set of towers.
The community is located in an area filled with local eateries and retailers, providing residents with plenty of shopping options nearby. It also has a good location in terms of transportation, with the Richmond Hill GO Station only a short walk away. Additionally, major north/south roadways are easily accessible, making it easy to travel around the GTA.
