About Ancroft Place - 1-10 Ancroft Pl

Located next to Rosedale Valley, Ancroft Place is one of Toronto’s most charming streets. This quaint side street is lined with a number of historic town homes that are unlike anything else in the city. The houses feature nine-foot ceilings and crown mouldings. They also feature new boilers and radiator heating, new roofs, and thermal double-pane windows that match the original lead frames.

The enclave of restored and fully-renovated historic townhomes are surrounded by lush park-like lawns. They are also located within a short walk of Yorkville, with all its upscale offerings.

It’s not clear how the village got its name, but it could be an abridged version of Aidan’s croft or “Ane Croft.” Perhaps this is why so many residents work in the shoe and clog business. Sailors of the Royal Navy would have been shod in footwear from Ancroft, and it’s even said that each of the trees on the village’s skyline represents a cobbler.

Those who live in the neighborhood can walk to places like Pizzaiolo - The Pizza Maker's Pizza, Seoul Food Take Out and Pita Land for some delicious dining. For groceries, there’s always Joe's No Frills and Pace Pharmacy nearby.
