Algoma is surrounded by lakes, forests and rivers and offers endless outdoor adventures. The area is a hunter's paradise, and the fishing here is outstanding, especially for lake trout. The region is also a destination for kayaking, boating and canoeing.
The town is home to many wineries, including the Von Stiehl Winery, which was Wisconsin's first licensed winery and has over 40 varieties of wines. In addition, the area is a popular tourist destination, and it's the home of one of the state's largest fishing fleets.
It's also home to many companies that offer great local jobs. One of these is Multi-Color Corporation, which produces pressure-sensitive labels for a wide range of products. Other major employers include CTI Hospitality, which creates interior packages for hotels. Other notable employers include the Algoma Net Company and the Algoma Hammock Co.
Algoma's downtown business district is filled with great restaurants, consignment shops and hardware stores. The town is a historic community, and many of its buildings have beautiful facades. 4th Street is the main business artery in town, but Fremont and Clark Streets are also lively commercial centers.
The Town of Algoma has an excellent quality of life, thanks to its low crime rate, thriving schools, stable staff and visionary elected officials. The community is well served by two highly-traveled highways, STH-21 and STH-91. Its location along these transportation corridors makes it a natural choice for future commercial and industrial growth.
