The building will be located at 241 Richmond Street West, in the heart of the Entertainment District. It will replace a heritage building that was previously occupied by The Ballroom, and the site also includes two 2-storey commercial heritage buildings at 133 John Street and 30 Duncan Street.
Tridel has applied for a permit to redevelop the site with a soaring mixed-use tower, rising from 37 to 41 storeys, and a seven-storey podium built around an inner courtyard and park. The design will include the preservation of the façades of the heritage buildings on the south wing of the podium and a new food hall at the north end.
The food hall will feature 12-20 small restaurants and food vendors. It will have an open skylight and steel beam architecture. It will be connected to the park via a walkway and will serve residents as well as visitors to the new community.
